Benefits of water management project explained

Tuticorin: A workshop on ‘Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation and Water bodies Restoration and Management (IAMWARM) project’, jointly organised by Agriculture Research Station, Kovilpatti, and Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam, was held at Kovilpatti on Monday.

Resource persons explained to the undergraduate students of agriculture the salient features of IAMWARM project and how the project would be beneficial to improve productivity and stakeholder income. The final year students of ACRI, Killikulam, who were undergoing Rural Agriculture and Work Experience (RAWE) programme at different river basin in Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar districts, as part of the curricula, were taught the methodology involved in the collection of village level crop data.

P. Vivekanandan, Dean, ACRI, Killikulam inaugurated the event. V Subramanian, chief scientist, ARS, and S. Somasundaram, Professor and Head, Department of Agricultural Extension, ACRI, spoke.
